about

Dunn Pearson Jr. is from Cleveland, Ohio became part of a pop group, Ponderosa Twins + One and in 1971 was in the US charts with a rendition of Sam Cooke’s “You Send Me. Producer was Bobby Massey, a founder of The O’Jays and integral to Dunn working with the group at Philadelphia International. Dunn co-produced two O’Jays albums “Identify Yourself” and “So Full Of Love”.
Bruce Wayne Gray was a singer, songwriter and musician, prominent in Philly disco with acts like The Trammps, First Choice and Double Exposure.
The Dunn & Bruce Street story begins in 1981 with a singe “If You Come With Me”, a US Top 20 hit single which became popular all over again the following year by Ren Woods and remains a timeless quiet storm favourite.
In 1982 came the song which today remains a boogie classic, “Shout For Joy”. Strings in soul were being replaced by squeaky synthesizers and sticky, phat keyboard bass lines and this one was definitive of the genre complete with powerful Brice Gray baritone lead vocals.
The album “Official Business” followed in 1982 and combines boogie and Philly flavours and Expansion are thrilled to reissue it for the first time on CD. It includes two later recordings by Dunn Street following the passing of Bruce Gray (aka Grey).
